WHAT TO EXPECT
In this article, users will learn what a stream, a stream group and what excluding a stream is and how to add, edit, remove, and exclude them.
Navigating to the Streams tab
The Streams tab is located on the System Management page in wXcked Eye. To learn how to navigate there, please review the wXcked Eye System Management article.
Users can name and define streams so that they can be easily reused when adding them to different groups or channels throughout wXcked Eye. Streams are dynamically added when a consumer does an IGMP join via a VM with an xNIC. In the streams tab, users can add, edit, and remove streams. Colors can be assigned to streams so that they are easily found in the Topology Graph.
Streams can be grouped together so that in the Topology Graph, the user can pick a group and filter out all the other streams.

Topology Graph/View By/Streams to see how you can view one or more streams in the Topology Graph.
Topology Graph/View By/Filter by Streams and Groups to see how you can filter the Topology Graph for one or more created streams or groups.
Topology Graph/Layers Toolbox/Links/Streams to see how you can view information about streams such as Multicast Group, Aliases, Rates, Channels, Grouped Streams Protocol Stats and Frag stats.
Topology Graph/Component Information Panel/Streams to see a detailed list of all streams going through a particular component.
wXcked Eye Topology Table/Streams to see streams in a table format.
The Streams page is organized into the following functions:
Navigating the Streams Tab
The streams tab displays all the streams that are running in the system and/or streams that have been configured by a user for a particular purpose. It also allows a user to group streams so that in the Topology Table the user can see a set of streams that belong to a particular group. Finally, this tab allows the user to add exclusions to stream so that certain streams will not display in the user interfaces either wXcked Eye or swx-top. This is is important as some streams are multicast streams, but they are messaging for example between Windows VM’s and are not necessarily streams that a user wants to view in the graph, table or swx-top.
Adding a Stream
To add a stream:
Click the Add button at the top of the Streams section. A new window will open.
Enter the Stream IP and Stream Port.
Assign the stream a name and color.
Select Save.
A new stream will now be listed.
NOTE
While the new stream is listed, it will not appear in the Topology Graph unless the cloudSwXtch detects it. However, once the cloudSwXtch connects with the stream, wXcked Eye will assign it the user-designated name and color and display it in the Topology Graph. For example, in the image above, streams 224.2.2.2:5400 and 224.2.2.2:5401 were detected by the cloudSwXtch but are not yet assigned a name or color.
Editing and Deleting a Stream Name
Under the Action column, users can edit or delete their stream’s name from their Streams list.
Editing the stream will open a new window where the stream’s name and color can be altered. Users cannot edit Stream IP or Stream Port.
The Delete button will open a prompt, confirming the stream’s name deletion.
NOTE
This will only delete the Stream’s name and color designation from the wXcked Eye UI. If the cloudSwXtch still detects the stream, it will still be listed under Streams.
Groups
Further down the page, under Groups, users can assign a number of streams to a group designation so that they appear highlighted together in the Topology Graph. In the example below, there are two groups, UHD and HD.
This would help distinguish between different “types” of streams in the Topology Graph, highlighting ones that only belong to their assigned group.
Creating a Group
To create a Group:
Click the Create button at the top of the Groups section on the page. A new window will open.
Assign the streams group a name.
Select the streams to add to the Group.
A New Stream can also be added to the Available Streams list directly in the window.
Click Create.
A new group will appear in your Groups list.
Editing and Deleting a Group
Under the Action column, users can edit or delete their groups from their Groups list. Editing a group will open a new window where they can add and remove streams or rename the Streams Group.
If a stream is now in the Available Streams list, the user can do the following to add a New Stream:
Select New Stream in the Create or Edit Group window. A new window will open, requesting information.
Add the Stream IP, Stream Port, Name and Color of the stream.
Click Add. A new stream will be available to add to the Streams Group.
Click Save to confirm edits.
The New Stream will now appear in the Streams list.
Exclusions
Exclusions were created because some streams are multicast streams, but they are for application messaging for example between Windows VM’s and are not necessarily streams that a user wants to view in the graph, table or swx-top. Some are added automatically as they are known to be used for these purposes. A user can manage the streams to be excluded and add to the list of excluded stream if desired. Exclusions are at the bottom of the Streams Tab.
Manage Exclusions
Users can add to or remove exclusions via the manage button.
To Manage Exclusions (Add and Remove)
To add a stream Exclusion
Select Manage in the Exclusions section of the Streams Tab.
Enter in the steam to be excluded.
Select save.
The Exclusion is added.
To remove a stream Exclusion
Select Manage in the Exclusions section of the Streams Tab.
Enter in the steam to be excluded.
Select Save, the stream exclusion is removed.
