How to Add and Remove Sources

WHAT TO EXPECT

In this article, users will learn how to add and remove sources for a groundSwXtch. Once a source is added, it appears in the list of destinations, so it is a good idea to add sources before adding destinations.

NOTE

If Dynamic is enabled, sources don't need to be added; they are detected automatically when an IGMP join occurs. Refer to Using groundSwXtch User Interface - What is Static vs Dynamic? for more information.

This page is organized into the following functions:

Add Source

To add a source:

  1. Select the Add Source icon. It is on the main map, and also in the groundSwXtch details pane (click the groundSwXtch on the map). When opened from the details pane, the groundSwXtch drop-down isn't shown because the groundSwXtch is already selected. The image below shows both options.

  2. If started from the main map, select the groundSwXtch that receives the source. From the details pane, it's already filled in.

  3. Enter the Multicast Group IP.

  4. Optionally, enter the source IP (for source-specific multicast).

  5. If desired, rename the source.

  6. Select Add.

  7. The source is added. If it is running and reachable by the groundSwXtch, it shows traffic.

Remove Source

Note that Dynamic (Auto) sources can't be removed.

To remove a source:

  1. Click the groundSwXtch the source belongs to, or select it in the Streams tab, to open the groundSwXtch details pane.

  2. Select the x button next to the source.

  3. Select Yes to confirm, or No to cancel.

  4. The source is removed.
