WHAT TO EXPECT

In this article, users will learn about the system requirements needed to successfully deploy a groundSwXtch. It is recommended to review this page before installing a groundSwXtch on any platform.

groundSwXtch Sizing Guidelines

Sizing and Feature Selection For the groundSwXtch

The number of endpoints and bandwidth dictate groundSwXtch sizing requirements. It is recommended for users to contact a swXtch.io sales representative to discuss groundSwXtch sizing and additional features so that the appropriate license can be distributed.

Operating system

groundSwXtch runs as a Docker container on a 64-bit Linux host. swXtch.io tests it on Ubuntu 24.04.

CPUs

The host must have a 64-bit x86 (amd64) or 64-bit ARM (arm64) processor, with a minimum of 4 cores. Recommended: 8 cores or more.

Memory

Minimum of 8GB of RAM. Recommended: 16GB or more.

Storage space

Minimum SSD of 24GB. Recommended: 40GB or more.

Before it downloads the groundSwXtch image, the installer checks that at least 2 GB are free in /var/lib/docker.

A minimal 4-core server can be costly. swXtch.io has tested the GMKtec NucBox M5 Ultra mini PC (AMD Ryzen 7 7730U) with good results:

  • 8C/16T

  • 32GB DDR4

  • 512GB SSD

Internet Connection

Installing and upgrading groundSwXtch is easiest with an internet connection: the installer downloads the groundSwXtch image and, if Docker is not installed, installs it from get.docker.com. For hosts without internet access, see Installing groundSwXtch Air-gapped.
